Sandra Faye Shoemaker;
Sandra was born December 5, 1966 in Morton, MS and entered her eternal home on September 19, 2025 at 5:53pm at UMMC Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.
Sandra is preceded in death by her late parents Doris and Linda “Allen” Holmes, infant brother John Wayne Holmes, and both maternal and paternal grandparents and late husband Cos Thompson.
Her memory lives on with husband, Ricky Shoemaker, Daughter, Kim Leonard (Heath) Grandchildren, Kelsey Bates, Waylon Leonard. Bonus children Scott Shoemaker (Stacey) . Tony Shoemaker, Brian Shoemaker, eight grandkids and six great-grandkids. Two sisters, Diane Holmes, and Connie Peak, two brothers, Michael Holmes and Tommy Holmes.
She was known as Sandra to most but she carried many other titles which she upheld to the fullest and those were Wife, Momma, Nannie & MeMaw. She carried those above the rest because family meant so much to her. One of ways she showed her love was to cook or in her words “I cooked to much so I’m bringing you a plate, or why don’t you just come down here to eat”. Knowing she had it planned all along, It was a one of her many ways of taking care of us and getting a little extra time in to visit. To go along with that caring and loving side of her was the joking and laughter she brought. Never lacked a come back or a sassy comment if she thought were off path. Speaking her mind came natural but we all took it with a grain of salt and and knew it was out of love for us.
The other titles she carried were, CNA & Private Caregiver over the years and wouldn’t you know those never turned out to be jobs for her, they always just added to the family. Once she met that patient and their loved ones they became part of her own. Even after the passing of the patient she cared for she still kept in touch and would meet with their family on occasions. It was just in her nature to care and she did a wonderful job and always put a 100%.
Hebrews 6:10 "For God is not unjust to forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them"
She had carried a burden of sickness for so long and in those last few months she knew her time was drawing near. She fought her best fight and did everything she could humanly possible. Knowing she has left this old body behind shatters our hearts but the peace knowing she is no longer in pain and in the arms of Jesus may our hearts have peace knowing. Until we meet again.
Romans 8:16-18 (KJV) states: 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Visitation will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, September 23, 2025, again on Wednesday, from 10:00am to 12:50pm with the Funeral Service following at 1:00pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS, with Bro.
