Sandra Kay Simmet

Sandra Kay Simmet, age 75, of Sparta, MI, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 22nd, 2024. Sandra was born in Manistique, MI, on March 25th, 1949, to Edward Thayer Jr. and Edda June Thayer. She was the second oldest of 5 siblings. Sandra was diagnosed with polio as an infant and had to endure many surgeries and treatments as a child. From this experience, she developed her strength and resilience. Her family left the Upper Peninsula when Sandra was 13 for Battle Creek, MI. It is at this time when she started babysitting for neighborhood families. She very much enjoyed taking care of children. A passion she continued through most of her life. Sandra was strong willed and determined. She took great pride in her work ethic. Sandra enjoyed collecting antique lanterns and other knick knacks. She also loved nature. Sandra always made room and made sure everyone was taken care of. She will be missed by many.
Sandra joins her son, Brian David; mother, Edda; father, Edward; brother, Ed; sister, Connie; and husband, Gerald in death. She is survived by her brother, Bill; sister, Edda; daughter, Rhonda Simmet; step children, Robert Simmet, Duane Simmet, Patrick Simmet, Todd Simmet, Beatrice Kurr, and Kimberly Simmet-Negus; and also many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on May 4th, 2024, at North Ridge Funeral Home, 88 E. Division St, Sparta, MI 49345.
