Sandra Soape Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home - Hammond on Jan. 15, 2025.
Sandra "Sandy" Shaffer Soape, 79, of Pumpkin Center, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home on January 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Pumpkin Center, Sandy brought joy, laughter, and quite often some side-eye to everyone who knew her. Sassy, spirited, spunky, and undeniably spicy, Sandy lived her life with an incredible faith in the Lord, passion, and pride. A retired police officer with Louisiana Weights and Standards, she took immense pride in serving her community and state. Her badge wasn't just a job-it was a testament to her dedication, strength, and resilience.
Sandy was a proud patriot and a woman of strong convictions and even stronger love. She adored her Saints football team, Elvis Presley, Fox News, and keeping up with the Weather Channel. She had a keen eye for nature's beauty and was endlessly captivated by birds, flowers, and the cliffs of Maine.
Sandy is now reunited with her dearly beloved who preceded her in death: her daughter Brandy, her son Jimmy, her husband Bubby, her sister Linda, her brothers Larry and Dannie, and her parents, Ernestine and Camille Shaffer.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Nikki Williams, Marcy Rogers (Brian), Kim Walker (Brian), and Andrew Soape (Amanda); her grandchildren: Christina, Jimmy, Monique, David, Sarah, Britt, Maddi, Syd, Kasie, Brian, Payton, and Taylor; and her 18 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the memories of their fiery and fearless matriarch. Also survived by her sisters Judy Meades, Karen Gabel (Carroll), SuePat Thornhill; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A life full of passion and pride will be celebrated with love and laughter, just as Sandy wanted. Though she has gone to rest, her sassy spirit and patriotic heart will live on in all who knew her.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W. Hammond, LA 70401, on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
