Sandra Sue Stepp, our mom, wife, grandma and friend, peacefully passed on the early morning of September 23, 2024, while holding the hand of her husband of 32 years, Harold Stepp.
She was 82.
She's currently enjoying coffee with her parent's, Ben and Verla, along with her brothers Bob, Don, and Jack.
Sandra Sue was born on 5/22/1942, at St. Helens Hospital, to Ben and Verla Brissett, the youngest of their four children.
She grew up mostly in Scappoose, Oregon, and lived with her parents in a cozy house on 3rd and Maple. She attended Scappoose public schools until graduating high school in 1960.
Throughout her adult life she raised 2 children, Jeff and Joelle, enjoyed gardening, canning her own home-grown veggies, and designing and building 2 homes.
She worked many jobs: Montgomery Ward and The Candle Factory, both places with her mom.
She went to fashion design school which took her on a dream trip to New York to The Garment District and ultimately led her to her job with Nordstrom's as a seller & buyer of high end clothing.
After leaving Nordstrom's she found a job in Scappoose working for a friend at Precision Engraving where by chance was reunited with Harold, when he returned to Scappoose to visit friends. She invited him over to her new house for some wine, and after that, they were never apart.
They married on November 2nd, 1991.
They built a home and life together in their "Country Mouse's City House".
They were always side-by-side, enjoying car trips around the dike (diker), to the beach, Yachats & Cape Lookout, across the country to visit family, to Disneyland & Maui.
She will be most remembered for
Her love of Christmas and celebrating the little things in life.
Her love of shopping and buying; her vanity plate was "I Shop."
Her love of cooking & baking.
Her love of gardening and growing the most amazing veggies and fruits.
Her love of family and friends, and fierce loyalty to both.
Her love of everything bunnies and hearts, with the "Velveteen Rabbit" being her favorite book.
She was a planner, always preparing for her next trip, either to the beach or across the country, or the next house she dreamt of building.
Her love for her husband, Harold, together until the end.
She is survived by her husband Harold Stepp, children Jeff & Teresa Young, and Joelle & Jason White, grandchildren Riley Young, Greyson White, Madison Young and Maxwell White. Step-children, Dawn Stepp, Malinda & John Richtarcsik, Hoyt & Jaime Stepp, Rebecca & Mike Reeves, 9 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren.
