Sandra O. Thompson

Sandra O. Thurmond Thompson, 82, of Box Springs, GA, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at Columbus Hospice House. Born in Columbus, GA on March 29, 1943, to Frank and Vivian Thurmond (Craft). Her family moved to Rockford, IL when she was young, where she lived until she returned to Columbus in 1968. She was the heart and soul of our family. So inherently kind, she was always willing to help those in need around her. Her spirited sense of fun and humor refused to be broken during times of trouble. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, David Thompson, son Mark McCourt, grandson Robbie McCourt and brother Thomas Boslem. She is survived by her children, Daniel McCourt, Shawn McCourt and Rebecca Thurmond. Grandchildren Mark McCourt, Cheyenne Jacobs, Allisa Tosado and Jasmyn Carr. Great grandchildren Maycee Fryer, Brenden and Matthew Jacobs, and Rowan Tosado. Siblings Venus Thurmond, Bill Thurmond, Susan Boslem Alonzo and Grace Boslem Gruner, as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
