Sandra “Sandy” Kay Tibbits began her eternal rest on October 15, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was 62 years young.
Sandy, daughter of John and Darlene Boggess, made her first appearance on December 4, 1961, while Darlene was visiting her family in Minneapolis, MN. Sandy traveled back to Eau Claire at just a few days old. Of the five children, Sandy was the middle child.
Sandy attended school in Eau Claire and was a graduate of Memorial High School. While in school she participated in the 4H and DECA programs. Sandy had a love for music and took accordion lessons when she was younger. Her polka-loving family members hoped she would play in a polka band one day. To this day, she still has her accordion.
As a young teenager Sandy took on her first job as a dishwasher at Smith’s Bar, this is where her employment journey began. She worked at many places including Shopko, Handy Mart, several places in Oakwood mall, also her favorite craft stores Hancock Fabrics and Michaels. She was employed as a Supervisor/ Assistant Operations Manager with Harmon Solutions Groups. Sandy spent the last 17 years working with United Healthcare.
Sandy started her family with Jason in 1980 and Alyssa in 1981. Many years later the baby of the family, Taylor, made her presence in 1995.
Sandy loved spending her free time with her children and grandchildren. She was the biggest supporter of all the various activities that they were involved in. From being a Boy Scouts Den Leader, traveling to Show Choir competitions, attending theater performances, to being the biggest sideline sports cheerleading grandma there was. Any activity the grandchildren had, that is where you would find Grandma Sandy! One thing that Sandy never forgot, was the picture-perfect moments. She always had the camera ready for the perfect shot of the special moments. If you knew her you knew you had to smile right the first time or we had to take the picture again, right kids?
Sandy took pleasure in crafting and making her creations perfectly flawless and beautiful. Whether it was crocheting a blanket, making Halloween costumes, floral arrangements, or creating projects on her Cricut. She enjoyed events where she was able to create crafts for the events; such as the Eagle Scout Ceremony, baby showers, the grandchildren’s birthday parties and if she couldn’t find what she wanted, she would create the most amazing and detailed creations. Other hobbies of hers included scrapbooking, reading and of course Green Bay Packer Football.
We all knew Sandy’s favorite time of the year was Christmas. Walking into the house was like walking into a winter wonderland. Every bulb placed in the perfect spot, every piece of garland exactly even and perfectly symmetrical to the next. The smells of the holiday season and the warm glow of the Christmas lights as you walked in the front door. Decorating every room in the house while watching Hallmark Christmas movies. During the holiday season if there was a new movie, she was able to convince everyone to sit down and watch it with her, popcorn and all.
Sandy embraced everyone around her with open arms. She was a kind, compassionate and warm soul of a person, even if you did take her picture! She has touched many lives throughout her short 62 years and will forever be missed by so many.
Sandy is survived by her son, Jason Tibbits; daughters, Alyssa Tibbits and Taylor Boggess; cherished like her own daughters, Kimberly Bowden and Samantha Harp; grandchildren Brittany Belden, Drake Peck, Greyson Tibbits, Jacob Bowden, Bryden Tibbits, and Kaiden Harp; sister Gail (Jeff) Mooney, brother Wayne (Katy) Boggess and sister Linda Koeller; 3 nieces; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Darlene (Gigi) Boggess; and brother, Allen Buchholz.
