Sandra Vuttera Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Loves Park on Dec. 16, 2025.
Sandra Lee Vuttera, 82, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family, on December 15, 2025. Sandi was born on March 30, 1943, to Marion and Lois (Lee) Hull in Sycamore, Illinois. She was a proud member of Marlyn's Majorettes, marching in parades and twirling her baton with enthusiasm and grace.

During her grade school years, Sandi moved with her mother to Rockford, Illinois, where she later graduated from West High School in 1961. She began her career in 1963, working in the laboratory at Rockford Memorial Hospital. She went on to serve as a phlebotomist at Rockford Clinic, and she concluded her professional career at Swedish American Health System.

Sandi enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including ceramics, crocheting, line dancing, card games, and fishing. She especially loved fishing for big carp on the Rock River and proudly earned second place in the Carp Classic in 2003. A devoted dog lover, Sandi always had a dog companion by her side.

She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and a diehard Chicago Cubs supporter. She also loved college basketball and eagerly anticipated the nonstop excitement of March Madness each year. Sandi adored summer, hot weather, Hershey chocolate, Hostess cupcakes, and never went a day without a Pepsi. The Fourth of July was her favorite holiday; she often watched fireworks from the bridge in downtown Rockford, always insisting the entire show should be one long grand finale. She also loved playing bingo and slot machines and was forever determined to win "the big one" in the lottery.

Sandi is survived by her children, Luke Vuttera of Rockford, Illinois; Lisa (Jon) Johnson of Loves Park, Illinois; and Peter Anderson of Easton, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her nieces, Patti Comegys, Liz Bockman, and Sarah Widell; her nephews, Brian Eckstrom and Marty Vuttera; and her longtime friend, Nancy McCauley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Hull and Lois Hull; her sister, Louanne Eckstrom; and her beloved dogs, Brute, Brute II, and Pippa.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel - 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Sycamore, IL.
