Sandy Baird Obituary

Sandy Baird passed away from this life on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Sandy was born on August 30, 1942, in San Antonio, TX.

After graduating from High School, she entered the world of civil service, where she met the love of her life, Michael, at Ft. Sam Houston. Their meeting and subsequent dating led to their joyous marriage on July 4th.

Michael, a dedicated US Army Supply Sergeant, and Sandy were inseparable partners. They were stationed in Ft. Carson once and Germany twice, sharing the adventures and challenges that come with a life of service to the country.

Sandy, was raised Catholic, nevertheless, when she started attending the Church of Christ with Michael, his guidance and teachings led her to obey the Gospel, marking a significant chapter in her life.

After Michael's retirement, they settled in Aurora and found employment at the US Post Office in Commerce City. Tragically, after 31 years of marriage, Michael passed away, leaving Sandy with cherished memories of their time together.

Sandy's career in civil service was diverse and impactful. She worked at Peterson Air Force Base at NORAD. She was an Administrative Assistant with JAG and saw a military courtroom at Ft. Carson. She also served in a similar capacity while stationed in Germany.Sandy's commitment to service extended to her 11-year tenure as a USO volunteer.

Beyond this, Sandy had a passion for walking, one event of note she participated in was the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer—a testament to her dedication to meaningful causes. Additionally, she maintained an active lifestyle, attending exercise classes at Buckley Air Force Base.

Sandy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael. She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane (Juanita) Robles Hernandez of Dallas, Texas and niece Jessica Eller of Tucson, Arizona. A memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life will be held at the East Alameda Church of Christ in Aurora on December 22, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
