Sandy Hensley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory on Oct. 8, 2024.
Sandra Janine Hensley, 77, passed away on October 04, 2024 in McHenry, IL. Sandra was born on July 27, 1947 in Chicago, IL to parents Lester and Thelma Gray. Sandy married the love of her life, Dennis Hensley, on September 20, 1969 in Wauconda, IL. They cherished 55 years of marriage together.
Sandy lived for her family. She was a wonderful wife and a beloved mother and grandmother. She loved watching her grandchildren. She was a dedicated grandmother; rain or shine, she attended every college football game for her grandson. Sandra retired in 1997 from AT&T where she worked many years. She was able to spend the last 4 years before retirement working side by side with her daughter, Kelly. Sandy spoke her mind and was often referred to as feisty, many have said they will miss the energy she brings to a room. Sandy truly loved everyone and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and love her.
Sandy is survived by her husband: Dennis Hensley; her children: Dennis Lane Hensley Jr., Kelly Ann Hensley, and Donald Scott Hensley; her grandchildren: Giovanni Purpura, Stephano Purpura, and Tyson Moss-Hensley; her siblings: Don (Lucky) Gray and Linda Duggan; and many brother & sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lester and Thelma Gray; and her sister: Sheila Panek.
Memorial donations may be made in Sandy's name to the American Cancer Society
