Ruben Proa Jr.

Ruben Proa Jr., age 43, of McHenry passed away peacefully February 19, 2026 with his loving family by his side. Beloved son to Ruben Sr., and Deborah Proa. Cherished brother to Tiffany (the late Vinnie) Kulik, Miguel Proa, Lupe (Rey) Esquivel, and Dallas Proa. Adored uncle to Isaiah, Analisia, Abrianna, Greyson, and Malia. Loving God son to Roxanne (the late Ramon) Proa and their children, Ray, Alex and Andreas. Beloved family friend to Victor, Wolfpack cuz, cousin, nephew, and beloved friend to many.

Ruben leaves behind a legacy of joy, laughter, and love. A proud Eagle Award Recipient of his high school class, he inspired others with his determination and later earned gold and silver medals in basketball through the Special Olympics. Ruben was happiest when listening to music and dancing, and he was a devoted fan of WWE wrestling, often found right in front of the television enjoying every match. Known as the ultimate jokester, he had a special gift for making people smile. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, and treasured the many friendships he made at the Pioneer Center. Ruben met life with resilience, happiness, and a heart full of love that will forever be remembered.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr. McHenry IL. The Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 26, at The Church of Holy Apostles, McHenry at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Church of Holy Apostles Cemetery.
