Obituary of Sandy Mota
Sandy (Alexander) Mota, age 80, of Hollister, CA, passed away on May 13, 2025, after a long illness.
Sandy was born on July 26, 1944, on Coronado Island, CA, to Kermit and Ruth Alexander while her father was serving in the Navy. The family later relocated to Martinez, CA, where she attended Alhambra High School. She went on to study at UC Berkeley before transferring to Chico State, where she earned her degree in English. Her first teaching job out of college brought her to Hollister, CA.
Sandy taught for many years across various schools and grade levels. After the birth of her daughter Cindy, she chose to become a stay-at-home mother.
Years later, she returned to the workforce as a substance abuse counselor for San Benito County, where she dedicated over 30 years of service before retiring.
Sandy had a deep love for animals, reading, and especially her grandsons. She often read multiple books in a day and cherished her beloved dogs, Pepper and Boomer.
She is survived by her husband, Mac, of Hollister, CA; daughter Cindy (Anthony) Dutro of Salinas, CA; and grandsons Jason and Brandon of Salinas, CA. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were like family to her.
Memorial donations may be made to Pet Friends of Hollister at 2975 Buena Vista Road, Hollister, CA 95023.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mabie Northside Skilled Nursing Facility, especially Josie, Monique, Marianne, and Brianna.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Paine's Restaurant on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, at 11:30 am. Per Sandy's wishes, a private memorial will be held.
