Santa Maria Cocchiere, daughter of Gaetano and Isabella Monteleone and widow of Angelo P. Cocchiere, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on June 3, 1930, in New York, NY, Santa led a life that was marked by kindness, care, and an unrivaled dedication to family.
Santa had a long career as a talented seamstress- she was known for her meticulous craftsmanship. Santa loved the holidays and loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. Santa enjoyed mother nature and became an avid and talented gardener and spent many hours in her gardens in her later years.
Santa was a proud mother of five children: Peter, who predeceased her, (and his wife Gabriela), Tom (and his partner Christine), CarolAnn (and her husband Anthony), Lisa, who predeceased her, and Angela. As a grandmother, Santa found immense joy in her eight grandchildren and was delighted to be a great-grandmother to four great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them.
The world has lost a truly remarkable woman, but Santa's loving spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, cherished forever in their memories. She will be remembered not only for the endless love and devotion that she gave to her family but for her lovely humor and generous spirit that she so easily shared with everyone around her.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 from 2 PM to 4:30 PM and again from 7 PM to 9:30 PM at Mangano Funeral Home, 1701 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, NY 11729. A mass will be held the following day on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius R.C. Church, pending time.
