It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Santa Francis (Nardo) Flayhart on September 13, 2025.

Santa, known as Sandy, was born on 10/31/1932 to Rosina and Nicholas Nardo in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from Seton High School, she went on to work at Baltimore Federal Savings and Loan as an executive assistant to the president. She remained with Baltimore Federal as it changed to Household Bank, HSBC and finally Wachovia. She enjoyed her career and made many lifelong friends along the way. However, her real love came after she retired when she babysat her grandson, Nicholas.

She was married to Armin Flayhart from 1954 until his death in 2004. Sandy had many talents, including painting, cooking, sewing, knitting and decorating. She painted countless beautiful watercolors, including landscapes, flowers, horses, boats and portraits of Nicholas. She won awards for several of her paintings and gave many as gifts.

Throughout her life, Sandy's focus was her family, her friends and her faith. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Forest Hill, Maryland. She enjoyed entertaining, traveling, spending time with family and friends, going for tea and going out to eat.

She leaves her beloved son, Nick and his wife, Michelle; her cherished grandson, Nicholas; many dear relatives and special friends, as well as her cat, Bobby.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Armin and by her loving second spouse, Dan Mauk.

A celebration of Sandy's life will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Amedisys Hospice, 7106 Ridge Road, Suite 140, Rosedale, MD 21237.

'…and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.' (2 Timothy; 4:6-7)
