Santiago A Martinez, 87, of Odessa (Tx), passed away Saturday October 11th 2025, in Temple, Tx.
Santiago A Martinez was born in Balmorhea, Texas to Francisco and Candida Alvarez Martinez on the 14th of April 1938. He went to school and graduated from Pecos High School. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 31 years. He was a veteran who served with the 101st Airborne Division, 506 Infantry, Mortar Battery and received an honorable discharge. During his military service he attended Airborne School in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Santiago Martinez is preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Candida Martinez, sister Geneva Florez and deceased wife Elva Armendariz Martinez.
He is survived by Juanita Mora Martinez, wife of 26 years, sister Juanita Martinez Carrasco of Arizona. Children Rene Martinez (Becca) of Laveen Arizona, Elsa Martinez of Tulsa, Oklahoma, stepchildren, Geno Aguilar (Anabel), Tony Aguilar, Patricia Harris (Ken), Criselda Lara (Michael).
Santiago leaves to cherish his memory 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Visitation is set for Wednesday October 15, 2025, from 1pm-9pm with a scheduled rosary at 7pm read by JC Carrillo and the St Michael’s Rosary Group at Martinez Funeral Home chapel.
Mass is set for 2pm Thursday October 16, 2025, at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church 7601 N Grandview Odessa, TX 79762, with Father Francis Onyekozuru officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens 6801 E Highway 80 Odessa, TX 79762
Pallbearers are Rene Martinez, Adam Leos, Geno Aguilar, Tony Aguilar, Kendrick Harris, and Kelly Nguyen
