Santos D. Carrillo

Santos D. Carrillo, a beloved mother and cherished member of the Weslaco community, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 4, 1938, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas to Matias Torres and Guadalupe Torres Hinojosa. Santos lived a life full of love, devotion, and warmth, primarily dedicating herself to her family and home in Weslaco, Texas.

Santos D. Carrillo is preceded in death by her husband Juan Refugio Carrillo, her son Eleazar Carrillo, her son in law Robert C. Garza, her brother Guadalupe Torres and Vicente Torres and her sister Olga Elvia Garcia.

Santos will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Elida Garza, who speaks fondly of her mother's unwavering support and guidance through life's challenges. Despite her modest educational background, Santos was a woman of remarkable strength and wisdom, imparting invaluable life lessons to those around her. Also surviving her are her sons; Guadalupe Carrillo, Martin (Mari) Carrillo, and Israel (Yvette) Carrillo, her daughters; Maria Leticia (Hugo) Yanez, and Hortencia (Juan) Coronado, her brothers; Juan Torres, Oscar Torres, Roberto Torres, Raul Torres, her sisters; Rosa E. Cavazos, Sara Alicia Salas, Maria Teresa Martinez and Elizabeth Hernandez, numerous grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

The family will honor Santos's memory and celebrate her life with a series of services. A viewing will be held on Monday March 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Salinas Funeral Home of Weslaco - Chapel of Grace. A prayer service will take place later that evening at 7:00 pm at the same location, providing an opportunity for friends and loved ones to come together in reflection and support.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 10:00 am at Galvan Revival Church in Weslaco (1810 W Business 83, Weslaco TX 78596), where family and friends are invited to join in honoring Santos's life and legacy. Following the service, interment will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 11:00 am, where she will be laid to rest among the community she cherished.

In this time of mourning, we invite all to come together and remember the richness Santos brought into the lives of those who knew her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will be dearly missed.
