Sara Taylor Cooper of Spartanburg, SC passed away on February 17, 2026 at the age of 96. She was born on November 23, 1929 to the late Thomas and Vida Taylor and was the widow of Robert Gerald Cooper.
Sara devoted her life first and foremost to her family and her faith. She worked at Woodruff Chevrolet until the birth of her children, at which time she lovingly chose to dedicate herself fully to raising and supporting her family.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Sara was an active member of Mills Mill Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and faithfully served the youth and children of the church. She later became a dedicated member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, sharing her servant’s heart in many areas including the nursery, Vacation Bible School, serving as Sunday School treasurer, working on the food committee, and ministering through homebound visitation. She was currently a cherished member of First Baptist Church Woodruff.
Sara had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. She was warm, outgoing, and full of personality, with a lively spirit that drew people to her. Nothing meant more to her than her family. She was a constant presence in her family’s lives, faithfully supporting their activities and milestones, and taking great pride in all they did.
She is survived by her children, Sam Cooper (Susan) and Melody Cooper of Woodruff; grandchildren, Jonathan Cooper (Abby) of Laurens and Grace Cooper of Woodruff; and sister-in-law, Louise Taylor. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Willie Mae Fincher and Ruby Page, and brothers, Johnny Taylor, Bill Taylor, Lawrence Taylor, and Bo Taylor.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM on Friday, February 20, 2026 in Oak Grove Cemetery, 350 N Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301, conducted by Rev. Andrew Shull.
