Sara Doerner Obituary

Published by Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories on Aug. 29, 2010.
Sara Jane Allen Doerner, born February 1, 1937 went home to be with our Lord and Savior and other treasured family members that awaited her on August 29, 2010. She met and married Jimmy Wayne Doerner while still in her teens. They had 3 children together. Their first, Diana Jane passed away at only 4 ½ months due to a terrible car accident in April 1955. Sara and Jim then had a son, Jimmy Jr., in December 1955 and a daughter, Linda, in May 1958. They started their own business, Sardoe Printing Company in 1962 and continued to prosper. Jim's death in 1985 was very hard to bear but Sara proved her strong and courageous nature by continuing the business and designing and building a new home. She was a lifetime resident of San Antonio and spent many hours attending and supporting San Antonio area churches and fundraisers. Her favorite was attending the opening night of NIOSA each year and her family has wonderful memories of attending with her. Sara was everything that a sister, parent, child, teacher, and friend should be, incredibly honest, loyal, and intelligent all mixed with a fantastic sense of humor. She loved her family unconditionally. We will love and miss her everyday. The void left in our lives without her is unmeasureable. However, she taught us to always be strong and follow God's plan and everything will be alright. She is survived by son, Jimmy Wayne Doerner, Jr.; daughter, Linda Doerner Banas; grandchildren, Garry Travis Doerner, Amanda "Amy" Marie Banas, and Andrew "Andy" Stanley Banas; great granddaughter Natalie Desiree Doerner; sisters, Charlene Mallon and Vivian and husband Jimmy Wehmeyer; and other loving family members and friends. Services Visitation will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.

Snuffy, we haven't yet come to terms with your leaving us without a word. We have anger in our hearts, but our love for you is forever. I guess I would hope to leave my family as softly as you did, but I would hope their anger would soon turn to grief, as ours, especially mine, is just now beginning to do. It's been 10 days now, and I'm just now accepting I will never hear your voice or see your face, and it breaks my heart so much. To Linda and Jimmy and their children: I love you guys so much, and I will be here for you when you're ready to need somebody for support and maybe even some guidance. With love from your Aunt Viv, Snuffy's "baby sister, and your Uncle Jim.

Dear Linda and family,
I just learned of Sara's passing and I just wanted you to know how much you all are in my thoughts and prayers. When I saw her picture, so many memories and laughter came rushing back to me. I can still hear her laughter, along with Fred Turner's, drifting down the Sigmor hallways as early as the 1970's. Sara was witty, sincere, true to her word, and always there for us,, whether business, or personal times with the Tom Turner family. Although it's been some time since I've seen you, please know that you remain in my prayers......... I know this is difficult for you, as Sara was not only your mother, but your best friend. Take care, and God bless you all.

To Sara's ( Snuffy's) Family, I was your mom's best friend since high school days. She arranged a blind date for me in 1953, who turned out to be my wonderful husband. So thank's to Snuffy for the introduction or we would have never had met.( Which resulted in 5 children, 11grandchildren, and 8 greatgrandchildren:so far...)

I will always miss her and her wonderful sense of humor, and great laugh. She'd say " I am a clown"!

I loved her because she was real, loyal, and funny, and not shallow.

She sang like an angel, we did shows for the troops and when Snuffy sang ,you could hear a pin drop. What a gift! What a friend!

I love her and miss her but I know where she is!
