Sara Seaton Long, friend to all and a testament to her giving spirit, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024 at the age of 88. Funeral services will be at Green Hills Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery at 5797 Co Rd 6600, Troy, Alabama. Rev. Mark Stephens officiating.
A loving, caring, people person was the best way to describe Sara. She never missed a ballgame with her daughters, no matter where they traveled and served as team “mom” or mascot through the years. “Nana” picked up to travel again with her granddaughter and enjoyed watching her figure skating across the states. She never met a stranger and would often invite those who had no family in for the holidays. She had lots of love to give and if you were her neighbor, you were blessed indeed.
Sara was a longtime faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She served as district president of Women’s Auxiliary VFW as well as a lifetime member. She grew up in Greeneville, Tennessee, and attended Mosheim School. Sara, “Nana”, friend, will be missed by all who knew her.
Loving survivors include her daughters, Judy Long, Janet Long (Agnes Attia); granddaughter, Andie Borders (Caleb); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth F. "Papa" Long; her daughter, Debra Ann Long; her parents, Alvin and Pauline Seaton; brothers, Bobby Seaton, Charles Seaton; and her sister, Shirley Wright.
The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Long family.
