Sara Louise McLean, 74, of Shelocta, passed away on September 28, 2025, at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.

She was born on November 17, 1950, to Carl and Elsie (Sharp) McLean in Punxsutawney, PA.

Sara was a 1969 graduate of Shannock Valley High School and a 1971 graduate of Indiana Vo-Tech School of Nursing where she earned her certification as a licensed practical nurse. She had been employed by Indiana Regional Medical Center for 13.5 years. She

also worked in Pittsburgh as an agency LPN for over 15 years and for Alice Paul House and H.A.V.I.N. as a Night Manager. During her nursing career, Sara became a member of the Licensed Practical Nurse Association of Pennsylvania and was a Past President and

Secretary of the LPN Association of Indiana.

Sara was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Atwood where she attended all her life. She served as an Elder, Clerk of Session, Women's Association Member, and a Sunday School teacher.

Sara Lou was known for her love of pictures and always had a camera in her hand ready to capture memories of her nieces and nephew while they were growing up. She had a sweet tooth and always had a stash of candy available for visitors ... even while she was at St. Andrew's. She played way more games of Uncle Wiggily, Flinch, and Chinese Checkers, than any one person should have to endure, with her nieces.

Sara enjoyed listening to her records and enjoyed Sunday afternoon drives and visiting her family and friends, especially her brother on the family farm. Once a farm girl, always a farm girl, even after you move to the "city."

Sara was blessed with many dear friends who were like family to her. In her younger years, she traveled around the world with her friends, Cindy Bell Shirley and Carol Kostella. She enjoyed keeping up on all the news with her dear friends, Cathy Hilliard and Donna Boyer, whether it was during a visit, a lunch date, or just over the phone. Her neighbor, Linda Strong, was always checking on her, stopping in for a visit, and kept her updated on the most recent church news. Roger Frick, her lifelong neighbor from Atwood, cousin and friend, was a treasured "brother" who always looked out for her and was known for dropping off little treats and sending heartfelt, humorous cards that she loved reading.

Sara is survived by her nephew, Richard McLean, of Atwood; two nieces, Susan (Kirby) DeVaughn, of Plumville and Kathy (Michael) Keirn, of Templeton; sister-in-law, Connie McLean, of Atwood; and her great-nieces, Kaitlyn, Madison, and Angel, and a great nephew, Maxwell, who all held a special place in Sara's heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert P. Shevlin; and a brother, Elmer "Wayne" McLean.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2025, 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., at Carson/Boyer Funeral Home, Inc., Rural Valley, PA. Funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Colleen McFarland officiating and Roger Frick presenting the eulogy.

Burial will take place in the Atwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Atwood, 124 W Indiana Street, Rural Valley, PA, 16249.
