Sara Kathlyn Patterson

Sara Kathlyn (Powell) Patterson, age 89, of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, in Miami.

Sara was born on July 6, 1936, in Alma, Arkansas, to Doyle and Mabel (Manes) Powell. She grew up surrounded by family and formed many lifelong friendships that she treasured throughout the years.

On November 12, 1954, she married Charles Laurence "Larry" Patterson in Galena, Kansas. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and a deep and abiding faith in God that guided her throughout her life.

Sara is survived by her sons, Richard Patterson and wife Barbara of Miami, Oklahoma, and David Patterson and wife Laura of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a proud grandmother to Andrew and wife Madelyine Patterson; Erin Patterson and Cody McGlone; Benjamin and his wife Savannah Patterson, and Margaret Patterson.

In addition to numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews she is survived by her sisters, Carla Mitchel and husband Gary, and Anne Kinyon. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother, Wayne Powell, brother-in-law Sid Kinyon and sister-in-law Ruth Powell. In addition to numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Sara's strong faith in God was an important part of her life and a source of strength and comfort to her. She lived her faith through kindness, compassion, and the love she showed to her family and friends.

In addition to her family, Sara found great joy in the many friendships she maintained throughout her life. She especially cherished the lasting bonds with her classmates from the Galena High School Class of 1954. In recent years, she was grateful for the companionship of her dear friend Elaine, whose friendship brought happiness and comfort to her life.

Sara will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to family, and the grace and faith that guided her life. Her legacy of love, friendship, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

There will be a visitation for Mrs. Patterson starting at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2026, at First Christian Church Chapel in Miami. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Minister Greg Highsmith officiating.
