Sara Elizabeth Sower

Sara Elizabeth Sower, aka Sally, was born Oct 21 1941 in Muncy PA to Lesley Erwin Baker jr and Elizabeth Zham Baker. She passed away on March 25, 2025 just as a Samaritan hospice transport brought her home. Sally was the Spouse of Lonne L Sower, mother of Gregory Sower, L. Steven Sower, and Christofer Sower (deceased) , the grandmother of Theo and Benjamin Sower, and the brother of L. E. Baker the 3rd (deceased). Sally married Lonne in the Presbyterian church in Bayfield CO on July 6, 1963. Our wedding vows, most emphatically minus the word "obey", were made and kept for 63 years. After stops in CA, and FL we found our forever home in Corvallis OR in 1975. Many of our friends arrived about the same time and we were the newcomers in the OSU Folk Club. Sally earned a BA in sociology at the University of New Mexico. She has worked as a Social Worker and Realtor. She was a Peace Corp volunteer returning from Ecuador in 2003 and did part time volunteer work at the Thrift Shop for many years. As half of our "Jack and Jill crew" Sally voyaged from Seattle to Mazatlan twice, all around the Sea Of Cortez, and back "up hill" to California once. She held a basic ham radio license, very useful on a sailboat. A celebration of life gathering is planned at some future date.
