Sara Frances Singletary Taylor

Sara Frances Singletary Taylor, 94, of Dublin, NC went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 27, 2024. She was born on December 2, 1929, to Elizabeth Gibson and Nathan Wilbur Singletary, Sr. of Tar Heel, NC. She was raised in a loving, Christian home with two brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her brothers Nathan (Nymph) Singletary and Roger Singletary, and sisters, Althea Brisson and Minnie Howie, who she reminisced of often.

On May 1, 1948, at 18 years old, she married Alward Larson Taylor, and remained a faithful, earthly wife until they were finally reunited in Heaven after 26 years. Throughout those 26 years she reminded her family of how joyous the day would be when she was called “home” to be with her Larson and her Lord.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that in addition to her husband, she has now been reunited with her first great grandson, Gavin Case Cashwell, and a host of family and friends in her eternal home.

Sara is survived by her daughter, Betsy Taylor Cain and son in-law Carlton, who cared for her in their home for the past seven years, her Granddaughters, Erin Cain Wall (Matt) and Samantha Dowdy (Taylor), and her Great Grandchildren, who she affectionately referred to as “her jewels”, Larson Elizabeth, Gabe, Chandler, Maddux, and Millie. Her longtime friend, Frankie Roberts, brother in-laws, Louis Brisson and Bobby Howie, sister in-law, Almeda Taylor Singletary, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

After graduating from Tar Heel High School in 1948 Sara attended Fayetteville Beauty College which allowed her to own and operate Frances’ Beauty Shop and Slenderizing Salon in Dublin, NC. Her beautician career spanned over 25 years, and during this time, for enjoyment, she operated Taylor Bus Tours. She meticulously planned countless trips over the years that many still remember. She visited 48 states in her lifetime and added a spoon to her collection from each as proof.

Throughout her many accomplishments and adventures, her greatest was her family. She was quick to make it known that she lived to care for her grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren, who affectionately called her Nana. From taking them to church, vacation bible school, piano and dance lessons, picking them up at the bus stop, sleep overs, telling them stories, watching jeopardy, ice cream cones, juice boxes, and “bird baths”, the memories she created are everlasting and the love she gave was immeasurable. Her dedication to family, unwavering love, endless prayers, and honesty will truly be missed.

Sara credited her long life to following the teachings of the Bible. Her family specifically recalls her quoting Ephesians 6:2-3, “Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long.”

Just as she always reminded her family, we don’t say goodbye, we say see you later...

A graveside service honoring her life well lived will be held on Sunday, February 4th, at 2 pm at Tar Heel Baptist Church in Tar Heel, NC with the Dr. Mack Roberts officiating. Sara loved pink and flowers, guests are encouraged to join the family in wearing pink, or cheerful colors.
