Sarah Jane Dooling, fondly known to her loved ones as Sally, Sal, Sahara, Mom, Grandma, and Grandma Great, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, in Thousand Oaks, California. Born on August 19, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sarah's life was a testament to unwavering love, kindness, and strength.
With a career dedicated to caring for others, Sarah pursued her Nursing Degree and a Master's Degree, which shaped her into the compassionate registered nurse she became. Her professional journey was marked by her commitment to nursing and her incredible generosity of spirit. After retiring from her nursing career, she embraced her family's aerospace business, continuing to contribute to their endeavors with the same love and devotion she showed throughout her life.
Sarah's personality was renowned among those who knew her. She was described as the sweetest and happiest person one could ever meet, radiating joy even while enduring great physical pain over the years. Her remarkable ability to remain positive and helpful—always putting others first—made her a beacon of light to all around her. A friend to anyone who crossed her path, Sarah often filled the air with her melodious voice, whether singing or humming a special tune that uplifted spirits.
She was not just a devoted nurse and family member; she was also deeply involved in her children's lives, coaching sporting events and running the PTA at their school, all while managing the demands of her career. Her family always came first, and she nurtured many generations with unwavering affection.
Sarah's legacy will live on in the hearts of her loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ahern, Patricia Freeman, Barbara Heupel, and Cathy Caywood, and her son David Dooling. Her family was further enriched by the presence of her 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, who will carry forward her enduring spirit and boundless love.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dooling, who was her partner in love and life. Together, they created a family that exemplified love, guidance, and faith, which Sarah held dear until her last moments.
As we reflect on the life of Sarah Jane Dooling, we remember her as a warrior of faith, a nurturing soul, and an irreplaceable matriarch. Her journey may have ended, but her influence will forever remain woven into the fabric of her family, friends, and community. May she rest in peace, eternally surrounded by the love she so selflessly shared.
Services will be held on November 16th at 11:00 am at Bridge Bible Fellowship, the church Sarah has attended for over 60 years. Located at 18644 Sherman Way, Reseda, CA 91335. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the church mentioning Sarah's name in the memo line.
