Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Tallent Hafer, age 89 of Shelby, NC, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
She is survived by her husband, Roe Lemmuel Hafer of the home, her children, Tim Tallent and wife Teresa of Shelby, NC, four grandchildren, Ansley Tallent of Raleigh, NC, Matthew Tallent of Asheville, NC, Katelyn Tallent of Raleigh, NC, and Garrett Tallent and wife Emma of Italy, two great grandchildren, Peter Michael Tallent and Walden Tallent, and two treasured step-daughters, Lynn Ledford and Ann Harrill.
Born August 11, 1936, in Cleveland County, NC, Sarah was the daughter of the late Walter and Beatrice Davis and was preceded in death by her husbands, Loy Allen Tallent and Hugh Gold, a son, Christopher Allen Tallent, and a brother, Max Davis.
Sarah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church. She loved her career with children as an elementary teacher and principal, leaving a legacy of learning in multiple children’s lives. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, lifelong learner of multiple crafts including cooking, crocheting, knitting and most of all a faithful follower of God.
A visitation will be held from 10:30am – 11:30am Friday, November 14, 2025, at Zion Baptist church. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:30am at the church conducted by Rev. Dr. Randy Bridges.
