Sarah Gingles, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of Salem Baptist Church, passed away on March 27, 2024, at 92 years old. Born on August 24, 1931, she leaves behind a legacy of love and service.
Sarah dedicated 32 years of her life as a compassionate nurse, touching countless lives with her care and kindness. Her commitment to Salem Baptist Church spanned 47 years, where she found solace and community.
She is survived by her loving family: sister, Martha Dukats; son, Sammy Gingles and wife, Sharon Gingles; daughter, Suzie Litton and husband, Odie Litton; daughter, Cindy Johnigan and husband, Gary Johnigan; son, Kenneth Gingles and wife, Cari Gingles; along with her 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, John Mack Gingles Sr.; son, John Mack Gingles Jr.; parents, Alice and John Gerkens; and siblings, Mary Alice Kopp, Jean Bulinski, Robert Tubre, Alma Campbell, Anna Welch, Johnny Osley, Tillie Mallet and Harriet Seymore, all of whom were deeply touched by her warmth and wisdom.
A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Stonewall, Louisiana with burial in Stonewall Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Mike Hawkins and Bro. Stan McGee. A visitation will be held before the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Honoring Sarah as pallbearers will be Brandon Litton, Stephen Johnigan, Kody Gingles, Jeffery Gingles, Sammy Gingles, and Mack Gingles. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Reagan and John McKay.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her legacy of love and service continue to inspire us all for generations to come.
