Sarah Janice "Jan" Hatch, age 93, of Glen Mills, PA, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at Rose Court at Maris Grove. Jan, the beloved daughter of the late Walter Kenneth and Mary Williams Elder, was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and raised in Williamsport and Scranton, PA, and Naugatuck, CT. Jan resided the past 6 years at Maris Grove, previously residing in Severna Park, MD and Cherry Hill and Long Valley, NJ. Jan also enjoyed spending time at the family's second home in Ocean City, NJ.
Jan was a dedicated mother, raising four children while her husband had a busy travel schedule due to his career as an airline pilot. Jan later began a career as a retail manager at Country Cottage, where she worked for many years before retiring. A creative spirit, she had a lifelong passion for arts and crafts-whether it was painting, sewing, or crafting. She loved gardening and was an avid baseball fan and loved watching both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jan enjoyed playing Bridge, and was part of the Bridge Club in Severna Park, where she enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of fellow players and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jan is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Hatch who died in 2023.
She is survived by her four children, Ellen Hatch, Laura (Vincent) Di Stefano, Catherine (Eric) Iversen and Thomas Hatch and four cherished grandchildren, Nathaniel Hatch, Elizabeth, Owen & Audrey Iversen.
A Memorial Service for Jan will take place on Friday, May 30th, 2025, at 10:00AM at Maris Grove Chapel, 200 Maris Grove Way, Glen Mills, PA. Interment at the Delaware Veteran Memorial Cemetery will remain private.
