Obituary for Sarah Augustina White Lentz May 2, 1919 – October 31, 2025
With full hearts and grateful memories, the family of Sarah Augustina White Lentz announces her peaceful passing on October 31, 2025, at the remarkable age of 106.
Born on May 2, 1919 to Aaron and Rosana Montoya, Sarah's life spanned more than a century of love, laughter, and faith. She lived through a world of change, and through it all, she remained a constant source of strength, grace, and warmth for everyone who knew her.
Sarah was blessed with two beautiful chapters of love in her life. Her first marriage to Arsenio White was filled with joy, family, and adventure. Together they raised their children, spent countless days fishing, camping, gardening, and tending to Sarah's beloved strawberry patch. Sarah also had a gift for crocheting, creating pieces that wrapped her loved ones in the same warmth she carried in her heart. Her greatest joy during those years was her family - especially her grandchildren, who always knew Grandma's home was a place of love and comfort.
After Arsenio's passing, Sarah began what she called her "second life." She reconnected with old friends, attended senior dances, and embraced her independence with energy and laughter. It was at one of those dances that she met Joe Lentz, her second husband and partner in adventure. Together, they traveled, danced, and filled their days with companionship and joy.
When Joe passed away, Sarah entered her "third life." Even as she faced dementia, she continued to share her light and love. She made her home with Teresita and Joey Chavez in Del Norte, Colorado, where she spent her later years surrounded by family, crocheting, and enjoying time with her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Her heart remained full, her hands always busy, and her spirit always kind.
Sarah's long life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and faith. She touched generations with her wisdom and humor, and her legacy will live on in every family gathering, every crocheted blanket, and every shared story.
A funeral and memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Del Norte, Colorado. The viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a memorial video at 10:00 a.m., the rosary at 10:30 a.m., and Mass to follow. Sarah's family invites all who knew and loved her to celebrate a life so beautifully lived - a life that spanned 106 years of joy, love, and devotion.
