It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Andrew A. Ortega, Sr., who left us on October 11, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1959 in Alamosa, Colorado to Antonio and Celia Ortega.
He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio Ortega and Maria Quintana; his late wife Nancee Sims; brothers Tony Ortega, Johnny Ortega, and Henry Ortega; sister Evila Gallegos.
He is survived by his first wife Rubena (Leo) Atencio; children Andrew (Sara) Ortega Jr.; Toni Jean (Michael) Williams; Jolene (AJ) Ortega; Amber Ortega; sisters Linda (Daniel) Mata, Sophia Sandoval, Isabella (Ray) Espinoza; two godsons; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a tremendous amount of extended family members.
Andrew was an adventurous man. He was a very hard worker and traveled to numerous places most of his life for both work and leisure. He had a love for animals and enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, listening to music, playing pool, and catching up with old friends. His love of cars helped create an everlasting bond with his only son Andrew Jr. He always made it a point to have a few Bahama Mamas with his son-in-law AJ when they would sit out on the patio and talk about his cherished memories, life experiences, or plans for the future. Andrew was a very prideful and humble man. He was known for his eagerness to help others and for his love of life. His sudden passing has been a great loss to all who knew him and he will truly be missed.
A private viewing will be held at Romero's Valley Funeral Home of Alamosa on October 17, 2025 at 4:00 P.M. for immediate family only. Doors will open at 5:00 P.M. for Recitation of the Rosary.
