**Obituary for Sarah Butler Holt Marbs**
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sarah Butler Holt Marbs, affectionately known as Sarah B. or Tah Nah, who departed this life on January 28, 2026, in Covington, Georgia. Born on October 8, 1938, in
Boyce, Louisiana (Bayou Rapides), Sarah was a beacon of love and strength, nurturing her family and friends throughout her life.
Sarah graduated from Peabody High School in 1959, an achievement she cherished. From an early age, she was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church by Reverend Luke Williams, laying the foundation for her lifelong faith and devotion to God. As an adult, she became a valued member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Leonard Dorsey, fully embracing her spiritual community until her relocation to Covington.
Family was at the heart of Sarah's existence. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Willie Marbs, whom she married in November 1959 and who predeceased her in 2015. Together, they created a loving home that served as a haven for many, where meals were lovingly prepared and memories were crafted. Sarah's passion for cooking was matched only by her dedication to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her.
She leaves behind her beloved children: Rodric Marbs (Cynthia) of
Alexandria, LA; Denise Green (Thaddeus) of
Covington, GA; Patricia Oliver (Charles) of Lithonia, GA; Towana Marbs (Milt Jackson) of
Snellville, GA; Jacqueline Marbs of
Conyers, GA; and bonus son, Anthony Coles. With a legacy of love, she also cherished her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Sarah was a hardworking woman who dedicated years of service at Travelodge and Walmart. She was the embodiment of kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, especially children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emeal Holt Sr. and Meadiean Butler Lloyd, as well as her siblings William H. Lloyd Jr., Emeal Holt Jr., Mildred Holt Boss, Fannie Lloyd Montgomery, and Lyndel Lloyd Vaughn. She is survived by her loving sisters, Maggie Holt McNeal, Myrtlean Holt Terrell, Lucy Holt Baker (Jerry), Martha Holt Jackson, Charlie Jean Holt Richards, and Vera Holt, who stand as testaments to her enduring spirit.
