Obituary of Sarah E. Martin
Sarah E. Martin (nee O'Leary), age 81, of Lavallette, passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, June 24th, 2024.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 767 Prospect St, Maplewood on Thursday, June 27 at 3:00 pm.
Sarah was born and raised in Bay Ridge in Brooklyn, NY where she attended St. Francis Xavier Academy. She fondly remembered her time there playing basketball. She still keeps in touch with many of her classmates. She earned her bachelor's degree in education from Georgian Court College and her master's degree in education from St. John's College. Her teaching career spanned decades and included time in the Long Beach Island school district in New Jersey and in the New York City Public School System. Sarah raised her family in Jackson, NJ and settled into Lavallette in 1986. Her home in Lavallette was her favorite place in the world. She especially loved the summers there with her children and grandchildren visiting.
Sarah is survived by her two sons, Craig Martin (Maureen) and Keith Martin (Joanne), her daughter Dana Cavanaugh (Brendan), and eight grandchildren (Chloe, Gavin, Bruce, Daniel, Ryan, Maggie, Declan, and Conor).
