It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sarah Jones Mazariegos, who left us on March 17, 2025, at the age of 32. Sarah was born on August 27, 1992, in Newport News, Virginia, and she touched the lives of many with her warmth, generosity, and radiant spirit during her time with us. She moved to
Williamsburg, Virginia, in June 2002, where she remained a beloved resident until her passing.
Sarah was a cherished daughter, devoted mother, loving wife, treasured sister, compassionate friend, and dedicated professional. Her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering love for others were evident in everything she did. Sarah had a rare gift: she made everyone around her feel seen, heard, and valued. Her genuine warmth and compassion enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A 2010 graduate of Jamestown High School, Sarah spent four years on the Colorguard under the direction of Steve Turner (Band Director) and her mother, Sharene Jones (Colorguard Instructor). She fondly remembered her many band trips to Florida (Disney) and Myrtle Beach, SC, as well as countless football games and color guard competitions. After high school, Sarah attended Thomas Nelson Community College for two years, exploring potential career paths, including dental hygiene. However, Sarah's passion for serving others, combined with her exceptional work ethic, led her to a job as a barista at Starbucks, where she quickly advanced to become a store manager.
As a manager, Sarah exemplified determination, reliability, and natural leadership. She inspired her team with her commitment to excellence, her positivity, and the genuine care she showed her colleagues. Sarah's leadership created an environment of respect, collaboration, and encouragement, earning her the admiration and affection of everyone who worked alongside her. She was deeply grateful for the support and mentorship she received from her close friend and fellow Starbucks manager, Chris Woolard.
Above all, Sarah was a devoted mother to her two children, Jordan (9) and Sophie (4). Her love for them was immeasurable, and she poured herself into their growth, well-being, and happiness. Being a mother was one of Sarah's greatest joys, and her children were the center of her world. Her legacy of love will live on in their hearts, and she will forever be a guiding presence in their lives.
Sarah was the embodiment of grace, kindness, and selflessness. Her giving disposition will forever be cherished by the countless lives she touched. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit, love, and light will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents Bobby and Betty Jones, Harvey and Nancy Sallee; her uncle Jeff Marx; her aunts Rhonda Marx, Debra Kellum, and Darlene Beale; and her cousins Chris Marx, Jason Kellum, and Justin Sallee.
She is survived by her loving husband, Yefri Mazariegos; her children, Jordan and Sophie Mazariegos; her parents, James and Sharene Jones; her grandparents, Tom and Carolyn Wilson; her sisters, Samantha (Brandon) Rice and Kayla Jones; her brother, Zachary (Janneza) Powell; her nephew and Sophie's best friend, Garner Rice (4), her nephew, Andre Snider Jr.; her niece, Savannah Snider; and Denise Jones (Grandma to Jordan and Sophie). She is also survived by many other family members and a vast network of friends, all of whom will forever hold her memory close.
A Celebration of Sarah's Life will be held on Sunday, May 4th from 1:00-3:30pm at Legacy Hall in
Williamsburg, VA. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. We invite all who knew her to join us in joyfully honoring and sharing memories of the incredible person she was. Together, we will make this day "an amazing day" - just as Sarah would have wished.
Rest in peace, Sarah. Your love, light, and legacy will never be forgotten.
