James E. Faison III passed away on April 7, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. A man who embraced life with open arms, James was known for his infectious spirit and his unwavering devotion to family and friends.
As a young boy, James found joy in sports, participating in basketball, softball, and football during his high school years at the newly opened Jamestown High School, from which he graduated in 2000. His zest for life was evident even then, whether he was playing games or simply enjoying the camaraderie of his peers. One of his earliest memories was his third-grade crush on his teacher, a testament to his playful nature.
James's journey into adulthood was marked by a serendipitous venture into the culinary world. He fell into the profession by chance, yet it became a passion that he pursued with vigor. His talent in the kitchen did not go unnoticed, and he earned a position as Sous Chef at P.F. Chang, where he embraced the role wholeheartedly. Despite his success, his fondness for home-cooked meals prepared by his mother remained steadfast.
Family was the cornerstone of James's life. He indulged each member with all his heart, sharing his passions for stylish clothing and shoes through thoughtful gifts during Christmas and birthdays. His love for sports was ever-present, with games constantly playing in the background as he gathered with loved ones. A frequent visitor to casinos, James displayed remarkable skill at cards, often besting dealers in places like Las Vegas.
James's generosity and warmth extended beyond his human family. Though he did not have biological children, he adopted two beloved pit bulls, Khalessi and Amina Lynn, whom he affectionately called "the girls." They were his cherished companions, embodying the boundless love he had for those around him.
Surviving James are his mother, Denise Graham-Jones; his honored secondary father, Michael L. Jones; his father, James E. Faison II; his sister, Damica Faison; his brother, Michael L. Jones Jr.; his grandparents, David and Sue Graham, and James E. Faison I. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces, Zara Loren, Lydia Rae, Kinsley Summer, Emery Autumn, Mia Denise, and his beloved nephew, Knox Alexander. His passing is mourned by several extended family members in Michigan and South Carolina, and by his "girls," Khalessi and Amina Lynn, who will forever wait by the door for his return.
James's life was a testament to the power of love, joy, and living each moment to the fullest. Those who knew him will forever cherish the laughter and happiness he brought into their lives. May his memory continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
