Sarah Rebecca "Becky" Melson

On January 6, 2026, Sarah Rebecca "Becky" Melson joined her Savior in Heaven due to complications from a stroke. She was a patient at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Becky was born May 2, 1944, to Ralph and Bonnie Stevens. She was the youngest of three children and a graduate of Enka High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Canton, NC, where she was very active with the women's ministries. Becky was a petite ball of energy, spending time with her friends. Becky was nicknamed by Mr. Paul as his little butterfly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings ( Paul and Janet), and her beloved husband, Paul Edward Melson.

She is survived by her two sons: Steve (Tammie) and Mike (Mattie); five grandchildren, Nicole, Brandon, Stephanie, Ashley and the newest light in her eyes Little Paul; and eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, with a very special niece, Teresa Hall Adams, that was often referred to as the daughter she didn't have.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church, 5868 Pigeon Drive, Canton, NC 28716. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the sanctuary of the church.

In lieu of live flowers, the family is requesting silk floral arrangements for the church or donations to Bethel Christian Academy, C/O Bethel Baptist Church, 5868 Pigeon Drive, Canton, NC 28716.
