Sarah Williams Obituary

Sarah Elaine Williams passed from this life on Super Bowl Sunday, still full of dreams including a Holy Lands trip that filled her with passion each time she spoke about it. Sarah was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ, leading her life from His example. She wanted all to know that they have access to His hope and comfort.

To that end, Sarah was enthusiastically involved in Epiphany Ministries' Prison Ministries for 20 years, helping incarcerated young men 18 years old and younger to see a more rewarding path for themselves. She began at Crockett, then Al Price, and then to Giddings, both traveling in person to events and writing innumerable notes of encouragement.

Sarah contributed to Park Memorial Baptist Church, Forest Oaks Baptist Church, Kingwood Methodist Church and Second Baptist Church. Over her lifetime, she was passionate about teaching children's Sunday school and vacation bible school, singing in choir, outreach, and learning and understanding God's word.

Sarah's other big passion was her work as a Registered Dietitian and Diabetes Educator, helping others on their path to health and wellness. She was the sole Dietitian at an 150 bed Acute Care Community Hospital, giving physician consults for nutrition education and management of tube feeding or total parenteral nutrition. She was an educational resource for employees at 12 health fairs annually for companies such as Sysco, Lyondell and Lubrizol. Sarah presented multiple nutrition and health lectures sponsored by such companies as Longhorn Glass, Shell Oil, and KBR Halliburton. She spearheaded Diabetes programs to Pasadena ISD & Alief ISD teachers in order to show them how to care for their diabetic students. She managed the "Diabetes Sweethearts," a monthly Diabetes Support Group for people over age 65. Her work was truly a passion for her.

Sarah earned her B.S. in Biology at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She earned a B.S. in Nutrition at the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center and she earned a M.S. in Nutrition at Texas Women's University.

Sarah was full of fun and always up for a new outing, restaurant or movie. Sarah and her sister Valerie visited the Texas Renaissance Festival and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo yearly, never tiring of the Falconry show and the Calf Scramble. Sarah enthusiastically followed the Texans and the Astros. She enjoyed TV, reading, Facebook and YouTube videos.

Sarah is preceded in death by her father, Coley Williams. She is survived by her mother Georgia Williams and her sister Valerie Williams. Sarah was the proud Godparent to Amber Brooke and Blair Carter.

Though her time on earth feels too short, Sarah lives on in the countless lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the faith she carried so boldly. Her light will be missed by all who knew her.

Sarah's heart was bigger than Texas. She was a mighty woman of God and a true blessing to my family. I know she is sitting with Jesus and having popcorn. I will always love her.
