Scott Akey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Niles on Oct. 8, 2025.
Scott Alan Akey, 58, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at Corewell Hospital in Saint Joseph, Michigan.
He was born on October 2, 1967 to Jerry Lee and Karol Ann (Freeze) Akey, in Niles, Michigan.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Akey, and his brother, Rodney "Rod" Akey. He is survived by his mother, Karol Akey; sisters, Debra Akey and Stephanie Akey, his nieces, Kristen Akey, Faith Fox, Hope Leahy and a host of family and friends.
Scott's zest for life knew no bounds; an avid sportsman, he delighted in the camaraderie and thrill of playing pool and darts, his competitive spirit igniting laughter and fellowship within his pool league, especially during trips to his favorite destination, Las Vegas, Nevada. An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Scott found tranquility in the solitary moments of fishing and the rustic beauty of hunting, pastimes that allowed him to fully appreciate the natural world around him.
Above all, family and friends held the most sacred place in Scott's world. Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, he never missed an opportunity to share a joke or anecdote, ensuring everyone in his presence left with lighter hearts. Generosity flowed from Scott as freely as his laughter, his big-hearted nature a comfort to those fortunate enough to be wrapped in its warmth.
A memorial will be held for Scott on November 15, at 2:00 pm, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 34 Sycamore Street in Niles, Michigan.
