Scott Bachetti Obituary

On February 20th, 2024, (Arthur) Scott Bachetti of Sheffield, MA passed peacefully at his home with his family nearby. He will be deeply missed.

Scott was born on November 9, 1952 in Great Barrington, MA to Arthur Bachetti and Judy (Rood) Bachetti.

Right from the start, Scott did things "his way". He always had a love for cars and speed and would build derby cars and take his school friends on wild daredevil rides. He even made a racetrack for Go Karts and the guys would get together on Sundays and race. He also raced a small block modified for a short time. Cars and speed were his passion and that led to the formation of three family businesses. He had a natural talent for body work and paint and he opened Bachetti's Auto Body in 1975 and kept that going until 1989 when he opened Bachetti's Auto Sales and Service. Bachetti Motorsports was formed in 1988 when his son Andy decided he wanted to race go karts and from there moved up to the DIRT Modifieds. This was right in Scott's wheelhouse as he could always be found at the races when he was a kid. His love of racing never left him and now he could watch one son race and his other son set the cars up.

Scott was always "chasin racin" and from early spring until late fall could be found at any track from Canada to Florida where his son Andy was racing and son Greg was working on the race car. He never missed a race. The whole family was involved in the racing and the businesses. He loved his daughters in law Natalie and Wynter and they were always helping him with something. Scott's life revolved around his family, the business and racing. He cherished the friends he made along the way in the business and racing world.

Scott leaves behind his sons Andy Bachetti (Natalie), Greg Bachetti (Wynter) his four grandchildren, who he adored, Blake Bachetti, Delaina Bachetti, Bryce Bachetti, and Kolton Bachetti. He also leaves his wife Sherri Bachetti.

He leaves behind his little dog Rowdy, who also did things "his way" and was Scott's best friend. Along with his sister Jean Christman (Rod) and his nieces Pam Sawyer (Tom) and Penny Christman (Randy Hunt) and their children Cole Sawyer, Brynne Sawyer and Cameron Collins.

Scott was predeceased by his father and mother, Arthur and Judy Bachetti and grandchild Colby Bachetti.

SERVICES: The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 29th from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. A private family service will be held on March 1, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Sheffield Police Department, 10 South Main St., Sheffield, MA 01257, memo "Donation Community Outreach". Donations may be sent directly or c/o Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230. Remembrances may be sent to his family through www.finnertyandstevens.com

To Jeanne, Sherri and family, My sincere condolences to you. Memories of Scott travel all the way back to when we were 6 years old at Center School. I can still hear him telling Millie Smith why he left some of his school lunch on his tray because he didn't like it. I remember backing away from his fastball during a Kiwanis baseball game. And I remember a couple of chance meetings with him at auto auctions. May your great memories keep his presence and spirit alive forever. Rest in deserved peace, Scott.
