Anne Baumann Obituary

Anne Marie (Powers) Baumann, 73, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Anne was born on July 11, 1952, in Pittsfield, MA, to James H. and Nora J. (Neary) Powers. She was raised in Pittsfield, graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1970 and went on to earn her associate degree from Berkshire Community College in 1973.

Anne married James R. Baumann Jr. on October 27, 1973, beginning a lifelong partnership. They were best friends who shared life side by side, doing everything together and finding joy in one another's company - on daily walks, trips to the beach and quiet days at home working in the yard. Anne was deeply dedicated to her family and was truly the glue that held them together. She raised three daughters and was actively involved in their lives, always present, supportive, and putting them first. She volunteered with the Allendale PTO, served for many years as a Girl Scout leader and "cookie mom" and attended all of their sporting events. In later years, Anne found immense joy in her role as "Nana," doting on her grandchildren and cherishing every moment spent with them.

Anne had a strong work ethic and a long and varied professional career. She began working at Zayre Department Store from 1968 to 1974, followed by her role as Office Manager at MetLife from 1974 to 1980. She later worked at Sears from 1984 to 1998 and Crown Jewelers from 1999 to 2006. Anne spent the final chapter of her career at BBE Office Interiors, where she served as Operations Manager from 2006 until her retirement on April 12, 2019.

Anne was a devoted dog lover (who carried biscuits on every walk around the neighborhood), an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enthusiastic reader and a fantastic baker whose treats were enjoyed by family and friends alike. She will be remembered for her dedication, warmth, determination, strength and her love for life.

Anne is survived by her loving husband of 52 years James R. Baumann Jr. She leaves behind her children, Kellie Baumann, Kristen Shambo and her husband Stephen of Grafton, MA, Lori LeVasseur and her husband Peter of Beverly, MA, as well as her grandchildren, Marissa Baumann, Cameron Shambo, Evan Shambo, Colin Beal, Nora Beal and Rylee LeVasseur. Anne is also survived by her brothers, James Powers (Judy) of Canyon Lake, California and John Powers (Linda) of Martha's Vineyard, her sister, Mary Lukowski of Easthampton Ma (the late Henry), and her sisters-in-law, Bette Anne Williams (James), and Nancy Knauth (Paul). She leaves her nephews, Timothy Lukowski (Julie), Matthew Williams (Alycia), Benjamin Knauth (Carrie), Michael Knauth (Brittany), and nieces, Sarah Lukowski (Wesley), Bethany Williams. We would be remiss to omit her grand-dogs, who she also leaves behind, Lincoln and Penny, as well as the many neighborhood dogs awaiting their biscuits that will miss her dearly.

Anne's family would like to give a special thank you to all the nurses, doctors and staff at the Phelps Cancer Center, especially Kim Cancilla and Dr. Sean Mullally, all of whom went above and beyond, and to the HospiceCare in The Berkshires team, Liz, Jill, Sam, Bonnie and Sharon for their compassionate care.
