I just wanted to let you know how saddened I was to hear of the passing of Scott. We were fraternity brothers at VCU and I have many fond memories of him. I'm very thankful that I had the chance to know Scott and will keep memories of him forever.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Banton family. What a great guy. He was my football coach at Hermitage in '85 & '86. I have many fond memories of those days. He was able to motivate us, as well as keep us laughing, all at the appropriate times. I saw him several times on the VCU campus and although I never met his children, I would definitely call him a 'proud papa.'

Erika and Family,

What a special person Scott was to so many people. My friendship with you goes back to our school days but we only met Scott a couple of years ago. The blessing was ours. I will never forget his cute sense of humor. What an awesome husband and father he was. The love between you and Scott and the love he had for Erik and Danielle was so obvious the first time we met him. We will always remember his wonderful smile and his passion for his family and life itself. We will keep you in our prayers. I know he is at peace with God and will always be watching over you and the children. I pray God's blessings on you and your family. We love you.

What a true hero. Scott taught me that courage does not just occur on the battlefield. The way he faced his last battle is an example for us all to follow. I am better for having had the blessing of knowing Scott.

You have our deepest sympathies. Scott embraced the challenges he faced with a great sense of humor. I loved how he made the most of his new baldness by dressing up as Kojak for Halloween, including his famous lollipop! He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Erika and Family,

I am so saddened to hear the news this morning. I know Scott put up a great fight but I also know that he's finally in God's hands and without pain. I had the absolute pleasure of working with him on the Milestone board of directors and I can tell you that his personality and keen sense of humor were a treat. May God give you strength and comfort always.

I spoke with Scott several weeks ago talking about grabbing lunch in the coming days. His optimistic outlook about life was incredibe and uplifting, putting so many issues into proper perspective. I look forward to seeing him in heaven for in my view he embodies the spirit of a true father and husband.

It seems Scott and I were always rivals in life. I first met Scott in high school. He went to Hermitage and I went to Lee Davis. We later met up again through the fraternity circle at VCU, he was a loyal KDR and I was a Pi Kapp. In spite of it all, what a wonderful, wonderful guy. He will be missed

To Debbie you know Scott was like my little bro remember my dog butch and what Scott called him and how Scott would act like Ms. Griggs he may be gone but his kindness will always be here with us. I never imagined hearing that one of us from the neighborhood would be gone. I admit he was damn strong and lived his life fighting til the very end. I will miss Scott very much but I will always have my memories of chubby little Scott with that red hair and freckles.
