Scott Jay Bergeron, age 63, of Georgetown and formerly of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of his devoted family. Born on August 4, 1962, Scott was affectionately known as Scotty, Scott J, and Buddy, was the cherished son of the late Napoleon L. and Rita J. (Gosselin) Bergeron.
Scott lived a life defined by joy, enthusiasm, and an unwavering love for the people around him. He took tremendous pride in his work as a Warehouse Worker at the Paper Processing Plant, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and warm spirit. Scott celebrated every class he completed and every certificate he earned, accomplishments that meant the world to him and to those who cheered him on.
A gifted athlete, Scott, competed in the
Special Olympics, where he especially loved basketball and swimming. His competitive spirit was matched only by his bright smile and the friendships he formed along the way. Outside of sports, Scott found happiness in the simple pleasures that made each day special: going out to eat, especially Chinese food, McDonald's, or a good slice of pizza, taking walks at the park or around the mall, dancing to his favorite music, and indulging his legendary sweet tooth, particularly for Reese's and 3 Musketeers.
Family was the heart of Scott's world. He treasured Sunday dinners, holidays, and every gathering that brought his loved ones together. His birthdays were always celebrated with enthusiasm and joy, becoming beloved traditions filled with laughter, cake, and the people he adored.
Scott was the beloved brother of Paul Bergeron and his wife Joanne, Russell Bergeron and his wife Cynthia, Michael Bergeron, Kathleen Bragg and her husband Francis, Marilyn Stevens and her late husband Gary, and Cheryl A. Bergeron and her wife Patricia Brendle. He was the proud and "awesome" uncle to 27 nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was also loved by many cousins who shared in his life's happiest moments. In addition to his parents, Scott is reunited in heaven with his siblings Janet Robinson, David Bergeron, and Paulette Bergeron.
A man of many passions, Scott enjoyed old television shows, especially Lost in Space, Murder, She Wrote, and Star Trek, where he embraced his identity as a true "Trekkie." He loved trips to Canobie Lake Park, where the excitement of the rides and the energy of the crowds brought him pure delight, and he loved to go bowling with his friends. Scott was also very popular at Market Basket, known as the "Mayor", he greeted everyone with a handshake and a smile and made them feel welcome.
Scott's life was a testament to kindness, loyalty, and the beauty of embracing every moment. He brought light to every room, warmth to every gathering, and joy to every heart he touched. His family and friends will forever remember his laughter, his hugs, his dancing, and the unmistakable sparkle in his eyes when he was surrounded by the people he loved.
Scott's legacy is one of love, steadfast, generous, and unforgettable.
