Stephen Allen Knight, age 50, of Newburyport, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, with his wonderful and loving family by his side. Born in Haverhill in 1975, he was the son of the late Harrison and Beverly (Braley) Knight.
Steve was the devoted partner of Sarah Watts, with whom he shared a deep and joyful bond, and a proud and loving presence in the lives of her children, Rebecca and Evan. He was also the best friend and cherished brother of James Hamaoui, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and loyalty.
A true original, Steve lived life with a spirit that was impossible to miss. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke ready, often delivered with perfect timing and a mischievous grin. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, and had a rare gift for turning strangers into friends. Protective by nature, he looked out for the people he loved with unwavering devotion.
Steve was happiest when he was skateboarding, especially on June 21st, Go Skate Day, which he celebrated every year with the enthusiasm of a kid discovering the sport for the first time. He was a grill master, known for cooking up meals that brought people together, and he was deeply family oriented, finding his greatest joy in time spent with those closest to him.
He had a soft spot for all animals, especially his beloved pitbull mix, Walter, who was never far from his side. Steve also loved the lake life, feeding turtles and fish, soaking in the calm, and enjoying the simple peace of being outdoors.
A lifelong fan of classic cartoons and comics, Steve especially loved Deadpool and The Punisher. His taste in entertainment was as bold as his personality: he enjoyed all kinds of movies, but his favorite was The Blues Brothers, and he had a deep appreciation for hardcore music. He cheered passionately for all Boston sports, especially the New England Patriots, celebrating every win and riding out every loss with the same fierce loyalty he showed in all aspects of his life.
In December 2025, Steve was baptized, a moment of personal meaning and peace for him.
Steve leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and connection. He will be remembered for his big heart, his bigger personality, and the way he made every room brighter just by being in it. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he shared will continue to live on in all who knew him.
