Scott Allen Brandenburger, aka: "Papa" was born in Clear Lake, SD, on June 22, 1964, to Allen F. and Donna M. (Swenson) Brandenburger. Scott's childhood was spent on the family farm in rural Revillo, SD, where he spent time in the field and around livestock. This is where he discovered a passion for raising livestock. After high school, Scott went to Vo Tech in Canby, MN, where he studied diesel mechanics.
Scott found the love of his life, LaNora "Nora" Schumacher and they were united in marriage on September 19, 1986. The couple welcomed a son and daughter.
Scott was always doing something and never sat still. He would work throughout the day/evenings. Scott had a variety of jobs throughout his life. He would work long hours at his job and then come home to leave again to go to the farm alongside his dad. When farming came to an end, he decided that he would drive the school bus for the Watertown School District. This is where his work career ended due to medical reasons, but that didn't stop him. He always had to be doing something. He was usually seen around Clear Lake or Watertown, enjoying breakfast/coffee. He could be seen at the Wheel Inn in Watertown or Ardy's Bakery in Clear Lake.
Scott was an active board member for Brookings Deuel Rural Water serving as secretary. He always attended the meetings and conferences. Scott was a fun, loving person and he always enjoyed a good laugh. Whether it would be from himself to get a crowd laughing or enjoying everyone else's laughter. His favorite was "I'm cute, don't believe me, just ask me."
Scott loved his family the most, his wife and children were in three to five positions. The number one and two spots were reserved for the grandsons, Jackson and Brooks Brandrud. He would always love to watch them learn and grow. Jackson was papa's favorite; you can always hear Jackson asking where papa was and what he was doing. Brooks was the "treat" loving kid with papa. Brooks would find "treat" and then must go to papa to get it opened so he and papa could enjoy them.
Scott is survived by his wife, Nora Brandenburger; son, Austin Brandenburger; daughter, Brandi (Justin) Brandsrud, all of Clear Lake, SD; father Allen Brandenburger, Revillo, SD; three sisters, Julie (Morris) Persson, of Rapid City, SD, Tresa (David) Wangler, of Aberdeen, SD, and Lauri (Barry) Bonneau, of Bancroft, NE; father-in-law, Alrin Schumacher, of Clear Lake, SD; four sisters-in-law, Lisa (Dallas) Christensen, of Castlewood, SD; Vickie (Robert) Brockel, of Linchfield, SD; Ida Hill, of Brookings, SD; Ramona Hill-Mills, of Brookings, SD; two brothers-in-law, Alan (Susie) Schumacher, of Paragould, AZ;; and Steve (Susan) Hunter, of Keywest, FL; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
