Scott Broombaugh Obituary
Scott was born to Glen and Betty Broombaugh on February 5, 1970. He was immediately dubbed "The Favorite." From that moment on, Scott could do no wrong.
Scott graduated from Windsor High School in Imperial, MO, in 1988 where he was an exceptional student. He was such an exceptional student that the Rock Community Fire Department thought it best to keep tabs on him. They kept him busy for 35 years until Scott retired in June of 2023 when he finally realized it was wiser to run away from burning buildings instead of into them. On the job, Scott was known for his warm smile and sense of humor, always having Swiss Rolls, and fishing without a pole. Scott often stated that he was honored to serve with the most incredible group of insane lunatics (except you, Kevin, he never liked you).
He was predeceased by his father, Glen L. Broombaugh, and brother Glen A. Broombaugh.
Scott is survived by his wife of 18 years, Cheryl, and their four children, Jamie (Mike) Mittermeyer, Chris (Kerry) Obert, Rob (Monica) Obert, and Samm (TJ) Seeger; twelve grandchildren, Emma, Noah, Kahsu, Alex, Aiden, Kendall, PJ, Lennon, Bela, Mila, Summer, and Winter, "Mini Scooter;" mother Betty; brother Jeffrey (Lisa) Broombaugh; nieces and nephews Jeffrey (Kaitlyn), Steven, Monica (Drew), and Morgan (Cole); sister Connie Matthews, seven cats, and other numerous wild animals he enjoyed feeding from his back deck.
Scott was an avid Blues fan, Bud Light drinker, garage-band rockstar, and collector of cats, trains, and discarded treasures. He was loved by all who knew him, though nobody knew him as well as the McDonald's drive-thru workers who saw him twice, sometimes three times each day.
To know Scott was to love Scott. Scott battled cancer with the tenacity of a bulldog for six years and passed quietly at home surrounded by family and friends. He will be missed, but his loyalty, love, humor, and kindness will live on.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 4, from 1-5 p.m. at the Pastime Club in Imperial, MO. All are welcome, and we ask that you dress in your favorite rock band t-shirt and bring your favorite memory to share.
