Scott F. Carroll

Scott F. Carroll passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 3, 2024. He was 56 years old.
Scott graduated from Everett High School in 1986 and joined the Marine Corp the following year. He proudly served his country in the Marines from 1987-2005 including deployment overseas in Iraq. In addition to the Marine Corp, Scott graduated from the police academy in 2000 and proudly served on the Malden Police Department for 24 years working his way up the ranks to Lieutenant. Scott had an amazing ability to talk to and help people. It was the part of the job he loved most.
Scott also earned a bachelor's degree from Western New England University and a master's degree from the University of Lowell. He owned and operated Scott's Contracting, making a business out of his abilities that are showcased throughout his family home in Melrose and his haven in Rockport.
Always one to lend hand, honor others or make a difference, Scott was involved in many different things. He volunteered his time with The Special Olympics and served on the Honor Guard for the police department during parades, special events and to honor fallen officers. He had worked with the SWAT team for many years and more recently was a Physical Training Instructor with the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council at the Lynnfield Police Academy. Scott was so proud of his work as an instructor. As a fitness enthusiast, he loved sharing his passion with others. Scott enjoyed being active and keeping fit and loved running, paddleboarding, jiu-jitsu, bocce and golf. But his greatest passion of all was his family.
Scott married his wife and best friend, Francine (Courtney) Carroll in 2000 and had two beautiful daughters, Isabella and Francesca. His wife and girls were his world.
Scott treasured time with Fran and the girls, especially when they could get up to Rockport. This was a special place for all of them to take walks, jet-ski, paddleboard or just relax in the home that he lovingly restored. He loved quiet time at home with his family but he also loved to go to dinner. Italian food was always a favorite.
When the girls were younger, Scott loved to bring them anywhere they could run around or jump around and have fun. But he wasn't one of those dads just wanting to keep his kids busy. Not Scott. He, of course, wanted to be part of the fun. Trips to Sky Zone included not only the girls jumping around, but Scott right in there too, with many pairs of jumpy socks to show for it. Earlier this year, Scott watched Francesa graduate from Melrose High School and Isabella graduate from Holy Cross. The family celebrated in Italy, making memories they will treasure forever. He loved his family and was so proud to watch his girls grow into the amazing young ladies they are today.
Scott had suffered loss of family early in his life, his mother, the late Janet (Devereaux) Carroll and two brothers, the late Mark Carroll and the late Frank Carroll, but was fortunate to be blessed with a second family.
The Courtney family embraced Scott as their own, and he felt the same way. Scott loved to stop by and visit his in-laws, Gerald "Jerry" and Carolann "Chickie" Courtney. He had a great relationship with brothers-in-law Gerald "Jerry" Courtney and Kevin Courtney and nephews Ryan and Christian Courtney.
Scott also had many great friends that became family and were a big part of his life. We will all treasure the memories of Scott forever and his infectious smile and love will long live in our hearts. Rest easy Scott, we all love you.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden on Friday, November 8th at 10:00 am. Please go directly to church. Interment will be private.
