Scott Wade Chaffee, known affectionately as Scott by his friends and family, departed this world on May 23, 2025, at the age of 70, in Carlsbad, Texas. Born on September 7, 1954, in Moose Lake, Minnesota, Scott's journey through life was marked by his unwavering kindness, friendly demeanor, and generous spirit..
Scott shared a loving marriage with his wife, Dixie McDonald Chaffee, who has been a pillar of strength and support throughout their years together. Their family grew with the joyous births of their children Timothy and Tabitha Chaffee, and though they faced the tragic loss of their son Christopher in 1979, the family's bond remained unbreakable.
Scott was a brother to Richard and his wife Kay, Jeffery and his wife Susan, and Bradley and his wife Shelly. The Chaffee family gatherings were always filled with laughter and love, a testament to the close-knit relationships Scott helped foster.
An alumnus of some college education, Scott served his country with pride as a member of the US Air Force from 1973 to 1981. His dedication to his work continued in civilian life as he pursued a career in HVAC for two decades, followed by time as a truck driver in the oil field and other industries. Scott's work ethic and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on his colleagues and those he served.
Beyond his professional life, Scott had a passion for golf and music. His hobbies were not merely pastimes but windows into his soul, revealing a man who appreciated the simple joys of life and the harmony that can be found both on the green and in a melody.
Scott's character could be best described by the words kind, friendly, and generous. He was the sort of person who would go out of his way to help others, always with a smile that could light up a room. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him.
As we remember Scott, a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson resonates with the legacy he leaves behind: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a better place... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Scott not only lived by these words, but his very essence was a reflection of this profound understanding of success.
Scott Wade Chaffee's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of love, honor, and kindness. As we bid farewell to a man who was not only a beloved husband, father, and brother but also a friend to many, we take solace in the memories he has left behind. His legacy will continue to inspire and influence everyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
As the sun sets on his journey here on earth, we take comfort in knowing that Scott's spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of those he touched. He has left an indelible mark on this world, and for that, he will always be remembered with love and gratitude.
A service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in San Angelo Tx on June 1st at 1:00pm. 110 East 18th Street.
