Beloved husband of Janet "Sis" for 35 years. Loving dad of Donald (Amy), Amanda (Logan Charlton), and the late Laura Jean. Cherished papa of Maisyn and Wyatt. Dear brother of Karen (Dave McCoy). He was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends, especially his faithful fur babies Colt and Beretta.
"Scott, the son of Ray and Angie, was born and raised in Garden City, MI. Throughout his childhood he could be found in the kitchen, where he would learn to cook alongside his mother and with his dad on the water spending hours hunting and fishing.
Into his teens and through his 20s, Scott spent his time enjoying his freedom and working to build a life for himself. His free time was spent up north, on the water or in the woods. Scott quickly developed his love and passion for hunting, camping and his endless appreciation for the outdoors. Scott often referred to the woods as being his "church", where he went to find peace and serenity away from everyday life.
In 1988, Scott was asked by his close friend Kenny to join him and his then girlfriend on a blind date. Little did he know he would be meeting the love of his life Janet (Sis). It was after three weeks and several dates that their stars aligned, and futures intertwined. On Valentine's Day, Scott asked Sis for her hand in marriage, beginning a partnership that would last 35 years.
Scott and Sis gave birth to three children, Donald, Amanda and the late Laura Jean. Together they would endure challenges, success, love, loss, births and deaths. No matter what life had in store for them, Scott and Sis took life head on together.
Scott leaves behind two grandchildren, Maisyn and Wyatt. He was a proud, devoted grandfather, who loved them with all his heart. Scott found enjoyment in picking his grandkids up from school, watching them play and grow. Scott shared his love for his elaborate model trains with them and enjoyed learning their talents and interests as if they were his own.
Scott was a very passionate hobbyist. He had a love and passion for woodwork, crafting and artistry. His family was in awe at his ability to see something and be able to transpose it onto paper without any template or guide. He had a love for wood carving. He was fascinated with the raw beauty and color that could be found in nature, and he loved to recreate that in a wooden sculpture. Scott was a self-proclaimed amateur gunsmith. His love and appreciation for firearms allowed him to see the beauty behind something so dangerous. He treated every gun he owned as if they were a piece of art, meticulously trying to get every detail perfect to honor the builders who designed them. Scott also had a love and passion for food. He understood that food was the best way to bring people together, provide comfort and solve problems. Many times, throughout the summer, you could see and smell the smoke bellowing from his grill as he was masterfully cooking a rack of ribs to be shared by many.
Scott was a man of patience, understanding and wisdom. His selfless and unmatched ability to make anyone feel welcome and appreciated is something that will be missed greatly. While the man will be incredibly missed, his memory is what will be cherished the most."
