Scott Alan Eckardt, 62, passed away suddenly Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at 5:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Memorial Services of Iowa (4208 N Ankeny Blvd).
Scott was born May 12, 1962, in Mason City, IA to Oscar "Dean" and Carolyn (Oliver) Eckardt. He grew up in the Mason City and Ankeny area before settling in Des Moines. Scott married Chris (Warnke) on June 25, 1988, and had two beautiful daughters, Shelby and Rachel. Scott and Chris remained friends after their 25-year marriage.
Scott proudly worked as an IT specialist for Fiserv for forty years, where he found a team of people who became dear friends.
Scott was a deeply beloved father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend. While we lost our most beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor and witty timing to others, and a helpful hand to all he knew. He has left a hole in our lives that will be difficult to fill.
He was preceded to heaven by his mother, Carolyn, and father Dean. He is survived by his brother, Steve; sister, Lori (Randy) Burchett; daughters, Shelby (Tim) Powers, and Rachel (Nate Peterson) Eckardt; and grandchildren, Archer Peterson, Israel Powers, Jordan Powers, Kristian Powers, and Cooper Powers; niece, Sonya (Eli) Wilson, and great-nieces, Eleanor Wilson and Mazey Wilson.
