Dr. Scott James Farrell, a well-loved member of the community, passed away on November 26, 2023 in his hometown of Vestal, NY. Scott is survived by Analise, their two children, Brendan Farrell and Meghan (John) Reed and grandson, Noah Reed. He is also survived by his parents, Dr. James and Dolores Farrell, his sister Michelle Pena and two nephews, Jacob and Joshua Pena.
Scott was born on October 1, 1962. He was a 1980 graduate of Vestal Senior High School, 1984 graduate of Villanova University, and a 1988 graduate of Medical College of Virginia for dental school. Following his schooling, Scott was very involved in the Broome County Dental Society, the Sixth District Dental Society and the New York State Dental Association. He was a member of the Pierre Fauchard Society, Fellow of the American College of Dentists, and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. In his free time, he spent many years on the board for the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier.
Scott dedicated most of his life to the field of dentistry, where he made lasting impacts on countless patients. As a dentist, he put his patient's wellbeing above all else and truly was a one-of-a-kind dentist. His dedication to his profession earned him respect and admiration of his colleagues and patients.
If you couldn't find Scott at the office, you would find him tinkering in the garage on cars, building or fixing whatever needed to be done around the house, or plowing out a friend's driveway in the winter months. You may even have been lucky enough to have known him (or heard him) playing bagpipes during the St. Patrick's Day season.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier or NIAAA.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Clubhouse Road, Vestal, Saturday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at St. Vincent de Paul Blessed Sacrament Church, Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.

Sending my condolences to Dr. Scott Farrell´s family.
My family & I have been patients of Dr Scott for 35 plus years. He was very good at anything that needed to be done whether it was filling cavities or pulling a tooth etc. He was a caring person. If you happened to be anxious about a procedure, he would work with you. It was always nice to see pictures of his family around the office. He liked to joke around when he entered the room. My family & I will miss him and we´ll always remember his big smile and his office on Leroy St.
