Scott Frederking Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory on Sep. 24, 2023.
Scott Edward Frederking passed away on September 20th, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born on June 16th, 1956 in Anchorage, Alaska to Edward F. Frederking and Beverly June "Gog" (Fox) Frederking.
Scott was a 1974 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School in Indiana where he was salutatorian of his class and a National Merit Scholar. He graduated Murray State University in 1978 where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and History. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Scott earned his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Georgia in 1980.
Scott had a lifelong career with the State of Georgia, working in the areas of audits, budgets and finance, often working with the Governor of that time. He retired in 2020 after almost 40 years.
He was an avid reader, especially historical books and volunteered at Bass Middle School as a mentor which he loved doing. Scott also volunteered at the polls and felt strongly about voting rights. He was a past Board Member of the Newnan Coweta Historical Society and a past Deacon of Newnan Presbyterian Church. Scott was a longtime fan of Auburn football, saying he didn't have a choice as he married into it. He could regularly be seen walking his dog in downtown Newnan. His greatest joy was his family and two daughters who he loved beyond measure.
Scott is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kim; his daughter Amanda (Weston) Yeager of Asheville, NC; daughter Emma Rose of Atlanta; parents Ed and June of Evansville, IN; sister Lisa (Harvey) Tanner; nephews Zackary (Stephanie) Tanner; Spencer (Paige) Tanner; great nephews Liam, Remington, and Chapel Tanner, all of Evansville, IN and numerous loving cousins.
The Memorial Service will be held October 14th, 2023, 2:00 PM at Newnan Presbyterian Church, with Rev. David Jones, II officiating.
