Scott Harry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holland-Coble Funeral Home - Montezuma on Sep. 22, 2024.
Scott Harry 55 of Phoenix, AZ passed away July 7, 2024 at his home in Phoenix. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Scott's honor may be made to a non-profit organization of your choice.
Scott Michael Harry, the son of Willam and Mary (McNeil) Harry, was born on August 7, 1968 in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1986 where he excelled in music and was the drum major for the marching band. After high school, Scott attended the University of Iowa where he received his Bachelor's Degree in business and marketing. Scott worked as a life guard for a short time while living in Iowa City and following graduation, he moved Arizona, continued to be lifeguard for the YMCA, worked in the Bank of America building and also worked in merchandising at Broadway. One of his favorite jobs, dealing with people and clothing! He spent a short time in Tucson, Az and then moved to California, got his real estate license, while working for Quantis airlines, Ensco and Terris. In 2001 Scott moved back to Arizona where he was able to enjoy more family time. This is when he met the love of his life, Tony Clemente. Scott owned several homes, condos and a nightclub in Phoenix for many years. Eventually Scott pursued a lifelong dream and he returned to graduate school where he obtained his M.Ed in Special Education and curriculum. Scott was an outstanding teacher and had finally found his real purpose in life. Administrators, staff and students all fell in love with Mr. Harry. He shared many stories about his day to day life with his beloved students. Many students begged to have their lunch time with "Mr. Har Har" and of course he could not deny this privilege to any of them. Scott started the backpack program at one of his schools. This enabled disadvantaged children to have food for the weekends when there was no school. He started this program long before most other districts had even heard about. He had a true HEART for those in need.
Scott loved his family and friends and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He had an awesome sense of humor and a contagious laugh. He had a passion for helping people in need and rescuing animals. He was consistent in his love for helping those in need both near and far. He would take time to visit with unhoused people and bring them food and sit and share a meal and visit with them.
Scott spent much time hiking, biking, running, walking, loving his many fury friends, helping others, and researching various interests. He was for sure a lifelong learner. He also had a passion for traveling and learning about people and their cultures.
His memory will be cherished by his partner of 22 years, Tony Clemente of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Julie (Mark) Lageveen, Robin (Mark) Bolen, Lana (Steve) Druvenga and Mindy (Doug) Johnston; a brother, Mac (Lora) Harry; brother-in-law, Terry (Jacque) Coghlan; nieces and nephews, Angie, Katie, Joni, Jerrica, Bill, Dana, Curtis, Alan, Blake, Bryce, Lance Lex, Logan, Jacob and Josh; several great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Harry; a sister, Jill Harry Coghlan; his grandparents and aunts and uncles.
His last words were to look toward the Rainbow, he will be there!
Rest in Peace Scott Michael Harry. We love you so much.
