Sheryn Ward Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Feb. 7, 2026.
Sheryn Ward, 76, of Cedar Rapids IA passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, at Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Sheryn was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, the first of eight children born to Robert and Mary Ann Jones (Edmunds). Sheryn attended Jefferson High School and various college classes to become a successful computer programmer and Collaboration Specialist at Rockwell Collins. Sheryn was proud to have worked at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years.

Sheryn had three children, Dedee (Dave) Lehman, Warren (Kate) Lyon, and Daniel (Ericka) Cushman, three step-children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sheryn met Dennis (Denny) Ward in 1994, and she and Denny were married in March of 2000. Sheryn retired from Rockwell Collins at the age of 57. Soon after retiring Sheryn and Denny moved to North Carolina to be closer to "NASCAR Country." After a few years in North Carolina Sheryn and Denny purchased a beautiful home in rural Monterey TN, where they lived for many years enjoying the peace and quiet of country living and spending time with friends in their Cumberland Cove community.

Sheryn was a hardworking and devoted mother who worked full time while raising a family. Throughout her life Sheryn also enjoyed spending time with her rescue dogs, working with stained glass, bowling, reading, driving corvettes, going to NASCAR races and traveling in her Newmar coach motorhome. Sheryn liked spending time with friends and being involved in her community. She was a Cumberland Cove community board member and the secretary of her local Newmar (motorhome) Kountry Klub. Sheryn and Denny enjoyed planning and attending motorhome rallies with other motor home owners.

Denny Ward passed away in May of 2025. Soon after his passing Sheryn moved back to Iowa to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Sheryn spent a few months living near her daughter in Montezuma, then moved to Meth-Wick Community (in Cedar Rapids) when her apartment became available. Sheryn was very excited about the opportunity to live at Meth-Wick and make even more friends. Unfortunately, Sheryn passed away shortly after moving into Meth-Wick, leaving behind her three children, three stepchildren and many other dearly loved family members and friends.

At Sheryn's request there will not be a funeral or celebration of life, however, friends and family are encouraged to get together and share happy memories. Sheryn and Denny's final resting place will be at Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids. Memorials may be directed to the family.
